Time To File Your Brazoria County Homestead Exemption

It is almost time for you to file for the homestead exemption for your property. There is a chance you will be getting mail from companies that are charging a fee for filing for Homestead. You can use a company but, there is NO NEED to use this service. Below, is the simple instruction to file for your homestead exemption. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Brazoria County Appraisal District at 979.849.7792 or check Brazoria County Appraisal District's Website
 
 
 
File the completed application with all required documentation between January 1 and no later than April 30, 2012. Please make sure to sign and date page three of the application.
 
 
Include with ALL applications (Note: The chief appraiser may not approve an exemption unless the address on the driver’s license corresponds to the address on the applicant’s vehicle registration receipt or utility bill AND the address indicated on the application form.):

 
1) a copy of the applicant’s driver’s license (make sure the address is for the subject property)

2) a copy of the applicant’s vehicle registration receipt; or a copy of a utility bill in the applicant’s name for the property for which exemption is sought. (make sure the address is for the subject property)
 
3) legal description and Brazoria County Appraisal account number: This information will be on your tax bill or you can check the Brazoria County Appraisal District website.
