If you live in Pearland, then I'm sure you have heard of Big Humphrey's Pizza! My family loves this restaurant! Not only do they have outstanding pizza and pasta but their down-home welcoming atmosphere makes you feel like a member of the family.
This past weekend, my family & I went to Big Humphrey's for good dinner and as always, we were not disappointed! One of the many reasons we love to go to to Big Humphrey's is that it is kid-friendly! Big Humphrey's has a great menu feature that allows children to "create their own pizza."
This has got to be the reason why my son Jayden loves coming to Big Humphrey's!
The server brings out a pizza pie shell, sauce and all a variety of pizza toppings and kids are able to create their own, personal pizza. After a child has added his or her own personal touches to the pizza, the server takes it to the 
kitchen to be cooked. You should have seen the look of pride on Jayden's face when his masterpiece was brought out!
I love learning the background on this great restaurant!
Big Humphrey's is locally owned and family operated business. This fourth-generation family restaurant began in the mid-’40s when a young wrestler, Joe Vitale, brought his family from St. Louis, Missouri to the plains of Houston, Texas. He had been traveling the wrestling circuit and became known as Big Humphrey Pennyworth. He acquired the name when a famous cartoonist, Ham Fisher, personally requested that he portray the character Humphrey Pennyworth in the Joe Palooka comic strip. The resemblance was amazing - fire-orange red hair on a 
350-pound man who wore a short-tail jacket, big roomy knickers, a polka-dot beret, kerchief in his back pocket, and always a big smile. He never met a stranger, and children everywhere loved him.
Joe Vitalie opened several popular hamburger places around the Houston area. His love for good food was passed on to his son Jasper and in 1986, Jasper and his wife Glenda opened up the Big Humphrey’s Pizza and Italian Restaurant on Broadway in Pearland. Ever active in the Pearland community, the Vitalie family is often seen around town supporting sporting events, the chamber of commerce and countless community events.
When you visit Big Humphrey's, you'll always find three things: A member of the Vitalie family welcoming you, good food and the desire to come back soon!
