Two years ago a student robotics program was started at Nolan Ryan Jr. High School. During the past two years the students, known as the RoboLonghorns, have designed, built and programmed some very amazing robots.
The students have entered their robots in a variety of competitions and have won a several recognitions and honors. The RoboLonghorns have been invited to participate in the inaugural First Lego League North American Open tournament. Invitations to participate in this tournament were only offered to the top performing teams throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Of the thousands of robotics teams in North America, only 76 will be participating in this tournament and the RoboLonghorns will be one of them! The tournament will be held outside of San Diego, California at the end of May. Since this is an out of state tournament the RoboLonghorns need to quickly raise money for the students’ travel expenses. They are looking for sponsors who are interested in assisting them with the costs associated with attending the competition.
While any donation is welcome, the team plans to recognize individuals and organizations who donate $300 or more by including their name and/or company logo on the back of the team t-shirts. I have attached the letter I received from the RoboLonghorns.
