This Veterans Day holds a little more meaning to me than those in the past. You see, I have three very precious, extra reasons to honor today: my son Blake and my nephews Ricky & Randy who are all serving in the military. Blake is currently serving at Ft. Stewart, Randy is serving in California and Ricky has done one tour in Iraq and will be leaving soon for Afghanistan.
You know, it is one thing to know those have loved ones in the service but its completely different to experience what it is like to currently have a loved one in military and stationed overseas. Its a brave new world we living in now.... So many young men and women over the last ten years have been lost in war or have come back physically and/or emotionally wounded. I think of my son and nephews and can only pray for a special hedge of protection for them both. I am so grateful that they are willing to serve and protect our country for me. Its funny, because now when I see a person in service uniform, I can't help but think of their mother or their family knowing what it is like to be in their position.
So today, I pay tribute to all the "Blakes," "Randys" and Rickys" serving our country - I honor you, I appreciate you and I am thankful.
