My son Blake (who is BIG on playing video games) will be turning 22 years old on Monday. My husband and I honestly did not know what to buy for him this year.  At a fundraiser for St Helen Catholic School in Pearland, we saw a auction item that seemed perfect for Blake's birthday:  Games 2 U Unique Exciting Mobile Video Game Theaters Brought To Your Home!  Neither one of us had heard of this before but we knew it would be perfect for Blake's birthday.  I have to say we were right!

The Gaming truck is awesome for all ages! It is outfitted with five (5) large, flat screen monitors.  Three monitors are inside and two monitors are outside.  The Gaming Truck has an XBOX and Wii with controllers galore!  Inside, the truck features a phenomenal audio system with professional lighting!  The truck is also equiped with a great fog system that we all thought was cool!

We were very impressed not only with the concept, but with the convenience of the party as it was brought to our home. Plus, the staff at Games 2 U were awesome! As soon as we confirmed the party they followed up with email confirmation and continued to follow up until they drove up in our driveway.  The wonderful guys on the truck were over the top fun! They participated with the party and were super helpful with any game.

Games 2 U offers much more entertainment.  They also offer laser tag, a large hamster ball and much more. We are already planning our next party with Games 2 U!

If you live in Pearland, then by now you have probably been to the newly built Pearland Town Center.  I was there the other day and found a few new stores has just open in addition to the ones I usually patron. It seems like every timeI go to Pearland Town Center, something new is popping up!

What I like most about the Pearland Town Center is how nice everything looks.  The sidewalks are always clean and it makes for an enjoyable shopping experience.  Since the opening of the Town Center, Pearland has also received several new restaurants (YUMMY!).  I know several people that live outside Pearland that will drive to the Pearland Town Center just to shop and eat. How great for our community's commerce! We can truely get just about everything we need here in Pearland! If you have not been to the Pearland Town Center, I encourage you to go soon.

So my question today is- what's your favorite spot to visit in Pearland?

To obtain critical weather information, NOAA's National Weather Service (NWS), part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, established SKYWARN® with partner organizations. SKYWARN® is a volunteer program with nearly 290,000 trained severe weather spotters. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service.

FAMILY NIGHT INDOOR DRIVE-IN!

Looking for a great way to spend an evening with the family? Then consider attending the Family Night Indoor Drive-In Movie at the Community Center. This should be a fun event!!

 Bring the whole family on Friday, March 19, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. and enjoy a cardboard car challenge, movie trivia, games, and crafts.

You will not want to miss the family movie, so bring blankets to lounge on for the show. We will be providing light refreshments for everyone to enjoy.

The cost is only $5.00 per family member. Children must be accompanied by an adult and over the age of 3 years. A minimum of 20 must register by March 1, 2010 so register now.

The Adult Reading Center's

7th Annual Red Hat Literacy Luncheon

March 25, 2010

 

 

 

On March 25, 2010, the Adult Reading Center will host its 7th Annual Red Hat Literacy Luncheonat Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pearland. All proceeds raised with benefit the Center whose mission is to provide free instruction to adults with low literacy skills. 

I have the honor of serving on the Board of Directors for the Center and I cannot begin to tell you the difference they make in our community! This is a great event and we always have a lot of fun! Over 400 women and men from the greater Houston area attend each year.

This year's speaker will be former first lady of Houston and author, Andrea White and Channel 13's Elissa Rivas will be the MC. Tickets will go on sale March 1st and you can purchase them through the Center by calling 281-485-1000. Ladies and Lil' Gents, A Walk on the Moon

Saturday, February 13, 2010 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Mothers and sons are invited to join other Pearland Community residents at this years Ladies and Lil' Gentlemen dinner and dance where each couple will have the opportunity to construct a project together and build memories that will last a lifetime!  

Ladies and Lil Gents, A Walk on the Moon is a Ladies and Lil' Gentleman's dinner and dance. My son Jayden and I have attended the dinner and dance in the past.  We both had a wonderful time, along with all the other mom's and their sons. The night was full of fun with dancing, entertainment and a great dinner.  All the boys and moms seem to really enjoy the individual time together. The night was a full of smiles and happiness for both moms and their sons. I remember looking around seeing how proud all the mom were and then I looked again and the boys looked just a proud and happy to be with their moms.

This is just one of the Pearland Community events that the Pearland Parks and Recreation puts together for the residents in Pearland.  Just one more thing that makes Pearland a great place to live and raise a family.

H1N1 Flu Virus Vaccinations will be offered free to the public Sat., Jan. 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bailey Rd. Campus (next to Pearland Jr. High South), located at 4719 Bailey Rd., 77584.
